Ok so I'm running in to some real headaches with my '87 5ktq as far as electrical connections. It seems that no matter where I turn all of my electrical harness plugs are different then every other 5k I've ever seen.
It all started about a month after I bought the damned thing 3 years ago and found that the reason the power locks didn't work was the control unit by the battery was MIA. So I grabbed a spare and.... WTH the plug is different? I went to my other 5ktq and yet again, different plug (same as the spare). 3 years and 5 5k's later (various T/noT, Q/noQ '86-'88) and tons of boxes of parts later I haven't found a compatible door lock controller.
Then a month or two ago when I went to install my black front seats and ditch the alcantera I found that the plugs were different. I had to cut the harness out of my old seats (some connections were soldered) and splice them into my new seats. All of the functions are the same, the switches and motors wired the same, but the main plug was a 5 pin connection vs a 9 pin connection. I still haven't done my passenger side.
I really don't know the history of this car, but I'm pretty sure it's been wrecked at some point. It was sold to me by some shady people who misrepresented it in a major way. The "brand new" paint job looks terrible and a half already, and the car didn't run when I got it even though it was supposed to have. If anybody is bored and wants to run a carfax or whatever have at it, WAUHE0441HN022053.
Anybody know what gives?
