LAC - caveat emptor -- Autocheck

Hi,

Be careful if you consider buying a subscription to Autocheck, a Carfax
competitor and division of Experian.  Their terms are misleading;  I bought
what I thought was a 60 day sub and found out that it was really "60 days or
25 checks".  It expired after a couple of weeks because I was blithely
checking almost every VIN I ran across.

I disputed the Autocheck charge with my credit card company and found that
the disputes agent was very familiar with Experian Autocheck, having filed
many disputes with them.  She also cancelled the account with immediate
effect to stop them from additional billing which they apparently can do.

The Autocheck account comes with about 2 pages of fine print that is
definitely in favor of the vendor instead of the consumer.
