80q Control Arms

Are the Lower control arms for an 88 80q the same for front and rear? It
appears that the '87 4kq shares its control arms front and rear, and I was
under the impression (perhaps mistaken) that the early 80q did as well.

I talked to a parts supplier today and he said they had different numbers
for the 80q front and rear control arms, but that doesn't always tell the
story. I need to replace the bushings in mine and, I'd rather spend a few extra
bucks on new control arms with bushings in place instead of the hours it will
take to r and r just the bushings.

I know this goes against the Audi code (trading time for money), and that I
may be banned from this here list for such a heretical thought, but 6 and
7-day work weeks will do this to a man. I just replaced the front bushings a day
or two ago, and I am not looking forward to repeating that process on the
rear.

An alternative to new control arms would be used control arms so that I
could r and r the bushings at my leisure, then replace the control arms as a
unit, thus greatly reducing the down time for this job.

If you've got a set of used control arms (and / or working rear tie rods)
hangin' around, please let me know.

thanks,

Tom
