Long story short...after about a month of effin'
around with a twit od an owner, I finally managed to
(almost) swing a deal on a MC-1 from a running '86
5ktq with just north od 200,000 km on the clock. Ran
out lunchtime to have a second look and check a couple
of things. Two queries:

1. Fair amount of oil in the michelin man hose...to
the point I could pour some out. He says it's
more-or-less normal and that's why the hoses crap out
over time...oil degrades the rubber. This guy is no
mechanic and seems like a bit of a sheister. Something
to worry about?

2. Probably related to 1. I did a compression test, 4
cylinders came back 120psi and #4 rang in at 90psi.
Bentley say the maximum permissable difference between
highest and lowest is 27psi. I have no immediate plans
of dropping the engine into either the 90 or the Coupe
and plan to strip the engine down over time and at
minimum rebuild the head because of the mileage and
ease of access since it will be out on a stand. Should
the compression be a deal-killer in this case and most
likely cause?

Thanks

ps...no real smoke from the exhaust
