front strut mount replacement

On older 4000 and 90 series cars, plus VWs, they wore out about every
40-50k. So you replaced them every time, plus in between. Crazy not to.

Fast forward to the B5 era. My experience is that these last a long
time. My S4 ones were great at 80k when I parted company. My mom's 1995
C4 quattro is 12 years old and they are just great. But new is new.
Labor each side is $100+, plus alignment. or a couple hours of your
time. if the OEM parts are *really* $15, I'd do it. The cost of being
wrong is $30. The cost of being wrong the other way is......

On my old 90q20v, just before I sold (to a good friend) I did the ball
joints, tie rod ends, strut bearings, surfaced rotors, and replaced OOR
tyres (50% waranteed). What an amazing difference on a car with 165,000
miles at the time.
