That's very cool.  Matchbox cars are nice, too!

Now, I'd like to see a car with a mechanism that does that.  Anyone have 
pictures from a dismantled parts car, or even a wreck showing the 
results?  It would be nice to know what models/years/markets this 
feature was actually implemented on.

I am curious, however, as to how they manage to use a couple of cm of 
transmission movement (relative to car body) to pull the steering column 
far enough forward to matter?
