Quick and dirty fix for hood release cable guide sleeves/cam timing and performance

What, buy them and miss all the fun of jury rigging them to work? Sometimes
a dealer isn't quickly at hand. I called the nearest dealer, about 10 miles
away, "we have to have them sent in from LA, they cost $7.95, will be here
in ~3 days, and you must pay in advance". All kinds of nasty things went
through my head, :-), but I politely declined.

I wound up 1) fixing the broken one quickly and simply, and 2) just in case,
I bought a couple from a lister(I hope).

Yes, if the timing belt is off a tooth or two, it will affect performance.
T&D Performance once installed my timing belt 2 or 3 teeth off, bummer.
They are still on the recommended list but their good guys work on newer
cars only. An old Audi gets the lowest wrench on the totem pole or the one
that draws the shortest straw.

Cheer!
