[A4] Need for Premium Gas in 1.8T quattro?

If you calculate the difference in MPG and figure the diff in %,
then figure the diff of the $$$$$$$$$ in % you can figure out
if you're coming out ahead or falling behind.
In my experience with an aspro, knock sensor equipped
VW A2 GTi, HT motor, there was a perceptible difference
in MPG, but at 1990ish gas prices, you'd fall behind in
cost. Being an aspro, whenever I wasn't up for Solo2 events,
I tended to run regular, or a mixture. With a Turbo, I'm not
sure I'd take the risk.
Being that your 1.8T is rated to use 91 octane, you can
(it's a bit inconvienient, but it's do-able) mix 87 octane
to 93 octane in a 2:3 ratio and come up with essentially
91 octane. The price per gallon then results 2/3 the way
between 87 octane and 93 octane. THAT may be a way
to save some money. It used to where I live, but now it's
essentially break even, i.e. the cost of 2:3 87/93 is $3.04.9
vs. supplied from the pump 91 octane, = $3.04.9.
Doesn't ALWAYS work (to save $$$$) but usually does.
