This wont be all that enlightening, but i would not fret external water 
causing it to quit. What I'd look for is electronics mounted low in the 
floor - and the harness, depending on how low it is run. You'll have to 
look yourself to see where those are.

I do have physical layout that someone sent me for the C4 A6 - on whcih 
your car is sorta based - but I think it may be sufficiently different 
to warrant you checking.  email me if you want it.
