water damage?

Dave,
Having (my father) owned both a 1999 A8 and a 2000 A8, I'd suggest it's best
to let (get?) the insurance (to) total the car. Unfortunately, they've
depreciated quite severely.
The A8 is heavily laden with electronics, and the interior
modules/connectors aren't sealed at all. Most circuit boards are sprayed
with a coating, but it doesn't "seal" them. As it is, the electronics on an
A8 are it's Achilles heel... add flood damage to the mix and I can guarantee
frustrating (and expensive) problems.
The lower interior is well padded, insulated, and will need to completely
come out to air dry. If not, you'll forever have mold/odor issues.
Did water intrude into the drive line? Probably.... so all of your CV
joints (etc.) will need replacement or repacking.
And the above all presumes no water got ingested into the $$$$ engine.
Best of luck,
Mark Rosenkrantz
