A6 CV joint

If you caught it early (which it sounds like you did), just clean and repack
the old joint. I just did this on my '00 A6 4.2 Sunday (2nd boot to
go...driver side @ 57k, passenger @ 61k). The boot kit is ~$15 from any of
your favorite online vendors. There is a nice write-up in the AudiWorld Tech
section that is good reference for this job
(http://www.audiworld.com/tech/wheel37.shtml). Should save you around
$150-200 in labor if you DIY.

Ok after washing the car I seem to have now a torn CV joint... I
thought I heard something yesterday and looked and there it was... not
bad sounding yet... what are the feelings of a clean and repack vs
replacement... and how much of DIY job is it... never one on one of
these... BTDT on a 90 CQ but not one of these...
