A6 Cam chain tensioners

Are there normally any problems with the cam chain tensioners on a '99 
A6 2/8L?

I'm in the middle of changing the tensioner on an '87 Porsche 944s. The 
plastic pads on these tensioners can break (usually somewhere north of 
100k miles) then the chain catches on a sharp metal edge and breaks,  
causing bent valves & broken cams, etc. Does anything like that happen 
on the Audi 2.8L engine? Is there anything that should be checked or 
replaced while I'm going in for the timing belt change?
