A8 coolant circulation issues @#$%^&* !!

Is it possible that you've installed the thermostat backwards, and pressure
is keeping it from opening?  If the housing is hot, but the lower rad hose
is cold, the problem almost certainly has to do with the thermostat, or a
clogged radiator.  Nothing got into the rad hose when you had the engine
apart, right?
