is there any performance mods for the C4 2.8 V6 wagons?

the B5 passat wagon came with the same 2.8 v6 motor, so whats the point?    
the other 1.8T engine option was only 150 hp.  ive driven B5 passat w/ the 1.8T 
and tiptronic, just as sluggy as the 2.8 v6, IMO.     plus the b5 passat is 
smaller than the C4 avant, if i remember correctly..

as far as other makes, im sticking with VAG products only..
