is there any performance mods for the C4 2.8 V6 wagons?

Yeah...don't know.  I would think so though.  I haven't heard of many 
trans issues with the tiptronics.  Again, just guessing, trying to find 
a solution.

Well, what about the TT?  It probabyy has the same trans (or at least 
very similar) with the 225hp 1.8t.
