Jordan, you are right that your 5000 kicks the holy shit out of a 2.8 A6
wagon.

I was into Audi's long before my dad purchased an A6 2.8 Avant. He was won
over by how my cars (a 4000 and then 5000) drove in the snow.

I've had the misfortune to drive his wagon. Several times up in the
mountains. Slooooooow.

Well, it is better than the old VW bus I used to drive, but very
disappointing, IMO.

I'd seriously re-consider your attachment to an automatic transmission if
you must have an Audi wagon. I feel that my father's A6 would be a much
better car with a manual (maybe there are some out there). And because you
don't want manual that means no S6 or even a 5000, which you could do some
tasteful mods to and it would be fast, damn fast.

Regardless, you may consider an A4 wagon, with the automatic. These are
pretty readily available on the used market, particularly in Colorado, where
I'm starting to see nice examples for around $8k. Maybe you can find one of
the 1.8 turbo engines that has been well maintained and do some simple mods,
thus approach something like the driving experience you are enjoying with
your 5000.

Good luck
