So....does anyone have experience with decent performance 225-45-17 tires that are known to be (as much as possible) sidewall bubble free? I am more than ready to trade some "ultra" and "max" performance attributes for some frotting lifespan! I have always preferred wet weather capabilities over ultimate 10/10s handling ability.
Any good options? I am thinking about WRs in 225-45-17 except they are so expensive.

Bob, my car came with Michelin MX4 in 235/45-17's, and have been a very good compromise between performance, ride, all-weather grip and longevity. I am approaching 45k miles, and I suspect I will get 50k out of at least 2 of them. I did have to buy one about two years ago, after I took a chunk out of one of them by running ovr a metal bar in the road. Cost was $244. These are the best OEM tires I've had on any car that I can remember. No bubbles, either...........
