Getting Fed Up with 17-in Low Profile Tires.....

Everybody has different criteria. Asking a list "what tire should I get?"
is akin to asking which oil should I use or which wax should I use. There's
nothing wrong with wanting a 70,000 mile tire, if that's your criteria.
Frankly, I envy people who are happy driving a used economy car and view
driving as simply transportation.
Back to the tire, once you own high end tires (which are expensive, but not
necessarily more than OE), you understand what makes them better
performing. But there's no free ride. Softer compounds don't wear as long,
by definition.
Personally, I'm a tire, brake, and suspension snob. I want very high
limits, because we just never know when an emergency maneuver will be
necessary Tires are the critical element, because no matter what we do,
we're ultimately (hopefully) controlling 4 contact patches.
It's been my experience with my customers, once they own very high
performance summer tires, they NEVER go back. The exception is what we put
on their trucks which is often very different criteria. A set of track or
high end street tires for my Corvette Z06 is $1200.00, so it's all
relative. =)
