If I recall correctly, that is just a slip fit.  Not pressed and not releasing because you're not putting sufficient pressure on it.  I THINK I worked one of those free by just alternating pressure from one side to the other with  a couple pry tools.

Response: I tried it as well a couple of months ago and go hung up on this same problem. Haven't found a solution. Would also be interested in a response from someone who has got past this point
