Ben, 

I agree with your base assumptions and would start small. With the key
in the "on" position make sure that that coil and ECU and MS have power,
with the key in the "start" position.. same test. 

It sounds like everything is there, but your no spark issue is your deal
breaker. Beyond that verify that there are no other "lockouts" that can
cause either the coil, the fuel pump or the ecu to not have power with
the key in both run and start.
