Grant Hi,

Judging from the fact that ATF is very well known for its lubricating
and cleaning capabilities I think it is a very logical idea to use it
for such applications.

After all we all know that one of the best ways to flash/clean an engine
from old, burnt oils is to use ATF instead of oil, let it idle for a few
minutes (five to ten for Land Rover V8 engines) and then empty the ATF
and of course change the oil filter.

I do not know how acetone treats metals but ATF most certainly does not
harm them.

Hmm. Interesting.

But to what degree did this measure its ability to *penetrate* a 
rusty/corroded joint vs its ability to *lubricate* a bushing it could 
penetrate.......?????????????
