Convert from underdash fusebox to underhood fusebox?

I just bought an '82 Audi 80 CD 5S with the dreaded underdash fusebox and
the old-fashioned fuses. The wiring harness is just a mess with lots of old
monkey lad business, bad splices, burned contacts and things don't work very
good.

How hard is it to pull the complete harness from let's say a 85-86 Audi 80
and put it into this car and get the underhood fusebox? Both cars have the
same engine, so that part should be ok. In addition, this is in Europe and
neither of the cars have any extras. Just manual locks, windows, no AC etc.,
so the harness does not look very complicated at all. Anybody BTDT?
