No pressure, but lots of suction! A vacuum leak here would starve the pump
for oil since this gasket is (slightly) above the level of oil in the sump.
The pump would suck air rather then oil.
If it were me I would reuse the old gasket (provided it comes apart in 1
piece), but I would coat both surfaces with Permatex #2 gasket sealant
(brown goop) or with the white VAG oil pan glue (have part # written down
somewhere here... I'll try to find it).
