Correct me if I'm wrong, but playing and controlling the iPod through the head unit are 2 different things. You can play it using the aux input, but you have to control it through the iPod, versus the head unit. My son recently purchased a very nice Alpine HU at Best Buy for his Subaru RS2.5 (AWD content) , with an iPod adapter that we wired into his glovebox. The adapter allows you to control everything through the HU, hiding the iPod out of sight.

Of course, a month after he purchased the Alpine, his iPod was stolen from his locker in school.
