After checking immediately obvious things (by which I mean -dramatic-  
tire inflation problem, sensor wiring visual, and you have enough  
brake fluid), your next step should be pulling the codes.

Subjecting the car to what?  A panic stop?  Heh.  I can say with  
excellent authority that a "panic stop" won't hurt your car.  If it  
did, Audi would be grossly negligent...

The worst brake failures I've seen in half a decade of attending/ 
helping at track events?

-UrS4 lost a stainless steel brake-line and went into the gravel trap  
at turn 1 @Watkins Glen, made a god-aweful mess of one side of the car.
-aftermarket cross-drilled front rotor exploded, shattering the  
(stock) wheel and ripping the caliper clean off the car.

Both cases, no injuries, just some proverbial brown shorts.  Both  
cases, aftermarket components that proved exactly why Aftermarket is  
not necessarily better than OEM.
