A6 anti-lock brake light

Does your car have a rear diff locking switch in the console?  If so, is it on when the anti-lock brake light comes on?  If so, the problem could be with the rear diff engaging. The ABS system is designed to disengage when this occurs.  When going around corners tires would squeal and there would be a driveline shudder.  I am currently struggling with this issue.  The rear diff seems to engage when air temps. are in the 80's and dis-engages under cooler conditions (below 70).  Probably an electrical gremlin that I haven't benn able to find.
