My 4KQ was one of the slowest cars I've ever owned and certainly wasn't the
best handling. It was without a doubt the most capable vehicle though!
There was no road, no weather condition, nothing that could prevent that car
from being used. The only thing it couldn't survive was a head-on collision
with a Honda Prelude. I probably would've been installing the V8 in that
car if it hadn't been demolished. When I parted with that car it had over
350K miles on it and the engine had never had anything more than maintenance
done. I had to replace the clutch once, but that was only because the
throw-out bearing seized to the tube it was supposed to slide on. I was all
set to buy Paul Krasusky's 4KQ when I happened to hear about the '91 Coupe.
I got to see Mark Swanson's bi-turbo V8 Coupe at SFest a few months ago. I
took a few pictures of it too: http://5000tq.com/audifanspics/S-Fest-2007
It sounded fantastic, but I've decided not to go the bi-turbo route with
mine. The plan is to start off with the stock 3.6l V8 with a stand-alone FI
system and a high-flow exhaust system. If that doesn't seem quick enough
then I'd look to a belt-driven supercharger system like the ones that are so
popular with the Mustang 5.0 crowd.
Anyone really interested in the details of the V8 Coupe project should
contact Jay at Rabe Motorsports: http://www.rabemotorsports.com He's the
man-with-the-plan....so to speak. I have all these dreams, but it will be
his fabrication skills and mechanical knowledge that makes it all happen.
Cheers,
Mark
p.s. Huw/Larry -- thanks for correcting me on the stock wheel offset.

Cool. Are you gonna twin-turbo it?
