best suspension for rally

Hi Rebecca,

My personal opinion is that suspension is like brakes: that's the part
you DO want to spend money on. It's what handles the unsprung weight. The
car's collected better for changing pavement, gives you better control
under braking and cornering.... Yeah, brakes and suspension are the pieces
I want to be good!

There aren't really good anti-sway bars and strut tower braces for our
cars. Which is a shame, because the flexible firewall is a real weakness
on our cars. Do you have a full rollcage? Then maybe you don't need these
two pieces. I like Elephant Racing (which uses polybronze bushings) ... if
they made anything for Audi. I do have a Jamex strut tower brace (these
are made of unobtanium... eBay?) and Blaufergnugen (got it from
the Blau Web site) rear AS bar.

BTW, my car is an '88 80Q. &:-) I have a 2Bennett coilover 340F 315R kit.
This is a compromise street/track spring rate which is admittedly too
soft for your application. They make 'em much stiffer and they really
know Audis! I highly recommend them. In my opinion, the cost is in the
labor and not in the suspension pieces, so if you have the installation
covered... well, go for it.

As to wear and tear... I don't rally, but in my track experience the wear
comes mostly at the attachment points where suspension meets body.... So
I wouldn't think of suspension being a throwaway item. I would always put
down the coin for anything that is likely to help keep the car shiny side
up. You want to be safe (as well as fast). Even if you're doing the
Panamericana, this is money well spent, in my opinion.

You go, girl!
