Thanks Tess!

<<<My personal opinion is that suspension is like brakes: that's the part
you DO want to spend money on. It's what handles the unsprung weight.
 The
car's collected better for changing pavement, gives you better control
under braking and cornering.... Yeah, brakes and suspension are the
 pieces
I want to be good!>>>

Yeah, I want my brakes and suspension to be good, I am doing the brakes too. But if I spend any more than that I won't be able to afford to pay the entry fees. So I would have a great car built so that it could sit in my driveway.

<<<There aren't really good anti-sway bars and strut tower braces for our
cars. Which is a shame, because the flexible firewall is a real
 weakness
on our cars. Do you have a full rollcage? >>>

Yes, full rollcage and the firewall is reinforced.

<<<BTW, my car is an '88 80Q. &:-) I have a 2Bennett coilover 340F 315R
 kit.
This is a compromise street/track spring rate which is admittedly too
soft for your application. They make 'em much stiffer and they really
know Audis! I highly recommend them. In my opinion, the cost is in the
labor and not in the suspension pieces, so if you have the installation
covered... well, go for it.>>>

We'll see about that, I'm still working on my tactics for finding sponsors or at least people that will help me out for cheap. Anyone in the Portland, OR area listening?

<<<As to wear and tear... I don't rally, but in my track experience the
 wear
comes mostly at the attachment points where suspension meets body....
 So
I wouldn't think of suspension being a throwaway item. I would always
 put
down the coin for anything that is likely to help keep the car shiny
 side
up. You want to be safe (as well as fast).>>>

To be honest this car isn't that fast, and this is a point of handling more than anything else. Learning to drive for rally is fun and challenging, but it can be nerve-racking if you are not sure your car will handle what you do to it. I'm just starting to push the car, and now its time to give it some decent suspension. But in the end this is just a HOBBY, and I don't make enough money to build it how I wish I could. Trust me- I know that the suspension and brakes are important, otherwise why would I be asking?

Thanks for all your suggestions
-Rebecca
