'01 Allroad? Yikes!

So here's the deal.  I have a friend that's looking at a '01 Allroad,
2.7T with 114,000 miles.  For sale for $13k.  Car is in beautiful
condition and has service records.  He's wondering if I can recommend
it.  I know very little of Allroads, other than hearing of someone that
had to drop $10k into the variable suspension system shortly after
purchase.  Anyone with experience in these cars care to chime in?  Will
it need TB @120?
