By lack of upgradeability I was thinking of still being able to pass inspection. You can't do much to an OBDII car and stay legal, and after a few mods the CEL starts poping on from time to time which kills it's chances of passing the NC inspection.

As for 5k's not having aftermarket parts... well I made what I needed that I couldn't buy and for under $6,000 total investment including the car itself I can pull away from a $125,000 996tt (untill brakes or steering is needed at least hehe). Well, I guess now that 996tt's aren't sold new it's not fair to say it's a $125k car...what do they resell for, $90k?

Oh well, to each his own ;-)
