Shift into Neutral to save TO Bearing?

N no touch clutch while waiting, even coasting in N to a red light.  Clutch
(only clutch plate) renewed on 1 car so far - 1975 Opel Record.  Currently
'88 90 Q (recently sold) and a '99 Beetle, both pushing 280K km, original
clutches, latter even has original brake pads and shocks.  A few years back
a 944, 224K km on original clutch, totaled (not me) - no chance to test
clutch longevity.  Driving since 1975 (time flies, eh?), Class 1 Canada,
Class 3 Europe.
