Oil Pan Gasket - Sealant needed?

Is any kind of sealant needed for the Oil Pan Gasket on a 96 A6 Quattro? It
appears to be a metal gasket, so I wasn't sure if it also requires a liquid
adhesive/sealant, or if it's ok by itself. The old pan and gasket didn't
appear to have any kind of sealant on them, so I'm assuming there is none
needed, but just want to be SURE before I finish this pan swap.
