Jim, I cheaped out and bought the lisle square multi tool at sears. Think it
was 10 0r 12$. Flaps should have the same item. Of course when I put it in
the toolbox I found one just like it, right where it belonged in the brake
drawer. Forget if it fits the 80's as my son had one, but there's a side
that works on the newer stuff, assuming it will work as it has 6 different
protrusions.
Have done the pliers and c clamp, but a PITA....
Of you plan on using it on other vehicles it's probably worth getting the
better set. But for one or two time use do the channel locks or get the
cheap item.

PS: I usually lift the boot and spray wd 40 or brake fluid inside. IMHO it
softens up any crud that may be lurking, plus you're not dragging a dry
piston over the seal.
