Cable from alternator to cable

My mechanic discovered my alternator is working fine, but that it is not
getting to the battery.  He checked the cable going to the battery and it
has current, but when cable is checked again at the battery there is no
current.  He thinks there is a connector post en route to the battery but he
is not certain of the precise location.  Suspects the problem is there or
from there to battery.

At this moment, my mechanic is contemplating running a new line from the
alternator to the battery.  Unless, someone can shed some light on this post
location (perhaps under the carpet floor/somewhere?), I will go with the new
line.
