Heads, blocks, and turbos

The urS4/6 gasket fits the hydraulic 10v's. The holes in the little
coolant passages are a touchy item. I once knew a kid who decided to "port"
the holes out to the size of the passages around the cylinders. The car
overheated badly because of this. He had to put in a new head gasket to fix
his overheating problem (which worked.) The holes are sized and placed to
direct coolant into certain areas, and it has to create a pressure
difference or it will overheat. I suppose it could be an issue because i'm
sure the 20v and 10v heads dont flow coolant exactly the same (especially
due to the 20vt coolant outlet manifold.) So i guess using it could create
hot spots in the head.

I have an mc block with a non t 20v head on it (20vt pistons, 10v rods
etc...) and i'm using a urS4 head gasket. I do not have any overheating or
hot running problems, but i cant say there are no hot spots either.
I also have a 90 QC that i used an urS4 head gasket in (had to redrill one
of the alignment pin holes but that one is doing fine too. So maybe the
20vt water pipe just helps let the coolant out evenly, not all on cyls 2-3
like the non t 20v and the 10v's.
I have also heard of some guys with a quattro scirocco used a urs4 head
gasket on their 10vt in the car (at the time, maybe 7 or 8 years ago...) I
think they were making 450-500hp, or at least thats what i heard...
So i'm not sure my argument with myself helped any of you or not, but its
just my .02

Jay
