Theoretically, forever.  It adsorbs gasoline fumes expanding from the
fuel tank as needed, and releases them into the intake tract when possible.

Unless the activated carbon/charcoal gets "clogged" with other aromatic 
hydrocarbons, or mechanical crud, it should work, as I said, forever.

Although I am all for the environmental protection afforded by the 
device (reduced VOC emissions), it also has no effect on how the engine 
runs.

> How do you test it?

The only test I can think of comes too close to glue-sniffing to be 
recommended.  RIP Joey & Dee Dee....
