You might mean those with auto transm.  OTOH, a '99 New Beetle 2.0, 5-sp.
won the US rally championship production class at least twice with 2
different drivers, mind you, with DSM susp. and a Quaife diff, otherwise
stock.  I'm quite happy with the same MY NB (even same techno blue) - going
very well @ 272K km currently - most original wear parts still on, incl.
brake pads and shocks.
