items wanted

I recently succumbed, for some reason, to letting the S6 sedan go in trade
for a '07 GTI...for way too little trade-in, but that's another story. A
young VW, formerly Audi tech is buying it. There are five things to comment
on having driven it in dry and wet weather since Christmas.
1. It's not quattro,
2. I miss quattro,
3. I need quattro,
4. The 2.0t has lots of power!
5. The new for '07 European sport suspension (as opposed to the '06 American
sport suspension) is pretty darn good on asphalt and SUCKS BIG TIME on
Houston rippled concrete highways.
With 45 miles each way to work some days, I may end up turning in this lease
and doing something else just because of the change in suspension. I had
driven the '06 all over on different surfaces and it was fine, but this is a
bit too much. It is nice, though, and it is SO much better than the Mazda3,
Mazdaspeed 3 and even the Civic Si. The close ratio six is fun, but I think
a tall sixth would be nice. That's the way it was in '06 on the GLI's.
Also, should have gotten a four door, or the GLI. Even though I intended it
for just me commuting, the family likes jumping in for just about anything.
Far more rear leg room than an A4 and my daughter just can't believe how
little it is on the outside and how big on the inside.
Still waiting for the guitar...
Of course, it will give me time to work on the RS2 S6 avant...finally. Get
the 2B camber plates and HRSB mounted up sometime...maybe by spring. And
after that, the urq gets some TLC.
One especially impressive car is the Passat with the six speed stick and
sport suspension. If only they offered 4Motion on the 2.0t stick, but no
way. The legroom in the Passat is so much more than the A4...

I second that. I took out a Mazdaspeed3 on the weekend for a "spin"
-- I was churping tires , nose-diving and torque-steering my way back
to the dealer lot when I realised that I *need* AWD and FWD + loads of
grunt = me in the hospital.
