hey ben - i'm not sure if these would work but the b5 a4 front brake caliper
uses a high grade steel [i think it's stainless] pin for the slider mechanism.
one end is threaded, the other hex [allen] and threads into the.. carrier
iirc? cant' visualize w/out looking at it. anyway it's a threaded pin about 2"
long. 

might work for that app? scroll down to the 'brake stiffening kit' here for an

These would be steel pins that can be threaded or bolted onto a cam sprocket
or crank pulley.
