It's a much better time to wash the intercooler, although I think I'm
sending this too late for you...but next time...

Do so back to front with a strong stream of water. If you do it over
a bucket, you'll see all sorts of bug body parts, sand, dirt, etc
come out. Spray soapy water and let it sit, repeat.

Touch up with a light amount of spray flat black paint to protect the
aluminum, in places where the paint has come off.

Seal one end, dump in some liquid dish soap and hot water. Swirl it
around a bit to heat up the air inside (otherwise when you cap it and
shake, it'll blow the cap off), cap the end, and then swish through
the tubes a couple of times, drain it, repeat until you get clear
water. Rinse, dry with a hair dryer in one end.

Don't use simple green inside or out- it's not safe for aluminum.
