I think you've got the wrong impression about how the adjustable spring
perch works. You need to lower the lower perch to lower the car. When the
car is off the jacks you will see the body settle into the spring by several
inches, so that the body can move both UP and DOWN on the strut.
Two more important considerations: The weight of the car doesn't change, the
force applied by the spring doesn't change. What does change is the spring
rate so that the body will not move as far against a stiffer spring when the
same force is applied. The increased spring rate will resist with greater
force (ie less movement) any movement by the body. Such as going over a
bump, through a swale,leaning into a corner, etc).
