Side-mirror - peeling issues

Out of my 4 Audis ('86 up to '98), three of them have the same issue 
with the driver's side mirror.  I guess some kind of protective film has 
come off various areas of each so those areas are discolored, leaving 
only a small portion of actual 'mirror'.

I guess I'm curious to know how wide-spread this problem is, and how 
easy it is to correct.  Do I need a whole new assembly, or just some 
mirror piece made to fit, or is it a different solution for each model/year?

They are:
1.  '91 200TQ
2.  '97 A4Q (2.8)
3.  '98 A6QW

(and yes, I have an Audi problem - who wants to buy my '91 200TQ and '86 
CGT?  Edmonton, Alberta  :D )
