grant - on these types of coilover kits the upper spring perch threads onto
an adjustable collar just like the lower perch is.
see here: a pic is worth a gazillion words.

in that pic, the fronts are on the left, and you can see the top of the
shock [with the hole] has a threaded upper perch.
the other end with the U-shaped mount is the bottom on the a4/s4. if you
look at stasis's instructions, there is an adapter that secures the top of
the shock to the audi upper mount. fancy stuff, hence the price tag.
essentially what theyve done is mechaniclly isolated the upper spring
adjustment from the upper shock mount. and apparently as you say, defied
physics.
i have a friend with this setup on his s4, and if he is to be believed
physics don't come into play. =)
So I'm really perplexed. What do you adjust the upper spring perch on?
