CGT Manual windows?? converting from power to manual? anyone done it?

No, but I went the other way on my '82.

Not correct, just some "lowly spec'd" ones like my sunroofless model.
That said, I've only ever seen two with manual windows, and they were
both 82's.

It should be easy, and the year of the car won't matter. The body type
parts are pretty much all interchangeable (except for trim differences).
There will even be a knockout in your door liner for where the handle goes.

I think my old ones are long gone by now. You might have better luck
scouring Europe for them, Audis that came stateside tended towards the
luxury end of the options spectrum. If you do find them, you might try
to get whatever is in the donor car in the place your window switches
are. If the car is the same "generation" at least. You can probably
get the bit you need through a dealer, too.
You could probably get really creative and remove the motors and put
handles on your existing regulators...
I've ignored the obvious question. (Why?)
