as far as the symptoms - the drivers one doesnt do anything..im going to
throw another switch at it first, then check the wiring at the A pillar for
cracks. as for the passenger one, i can hear the motor working when i press the
switch, but the window doesnt move (well it will fall down alittle) then i hear
some plastic gears crunching as apparently the motor moves the cable to the
part where the gears are broken.. but the motor is getting power.
personally ive never been a fan of power windows.. and especially on a coupe,
its kinda pointless. that was my reasoning in seeing if the manual ones were
available. i have a bunch of vanagons, and have made the conversion from power
to manual a number of times because vanagon power window regs are like $150
ea and you can never find good used ones..so converting to manual is alot
easier and cheaper.
as far as my want list, i have one i can fwd to you if you have any CGT parts
available ?
one other question i have - i was suprised the car came with the analog
clock.. i thought by '86 most audis would have the digital clock. its got the
small analong clock under the tachometer. the car does indeed have cruise
control though. no heated seats either.
i noticed in the owners manual some models had the MFD or trip computer under
the tach, in place of the analog clock. how common was this? or did most
CGT's just have the small analog clock?
