I'm in the process of making the same move from Adelphia-cum-Comcast
to Qwest DSL and DirecTV. I have noticed the somewhat slower speed
with larger downloads but it seems consistent whereas on cable modem
it was not, fast sometimes, slow others. Plus I have better success
connecting and staying connected to my employer's VPN from my wireless
laptop so I can work remotely.
It is my feeling that the cable industry is stuck in the 80's and I
will not fund their ignorace and arrogance any longer.
