radiator end cap plastic repair

There's a show called Mythbusters here in the states. The just had a show on various radiator "patches". I wasn't paying much attention to the show. I think the standard bottled stuff didn't work very well on a hole they made with an awl. I then saw them crack an egg and let it drop in. Worked better than the stuff you buy... Who knows for how long...

This is bad but ... in the above case and if the crack is miniscule, maybe
you can try the liquid ghetto fixes - magic stop-leak substances sold in
FLAPS. I had a little steam coming from my rad ('88 Typ 89) recently and
used the old-time gourmet chef version - Cayenne powder - but a couple of
teaspoons of any red pepper, hot or mild, will do. Why, is she running hot
now! Actually the steam stopped, for how long, who knows?

OK, before I get flamed (or peppered ;o), I don't drive this car much, only
on my property over the last year to pack down the snow. This is generally
nor recommended, just offered after insitence on avoiding the proper fix.
