Audi 5000 Seats in a Type 85

I am looking at modifying Audi 5000/A6 front seats to work in a
4000quattro.
The seats are manual and have a similar center rail locking mechanism at
the 
front as the 4000 seats. The part that rides in the floor tracks are
much wider
than the 4000. Anyone know of any links or posts that cover modifying
the
5000 seat to ride in the 4000 tracks? I am reliably informed that a 4000
owner
in Toronto performed this mod because he wanted power seats - so I
believe
it can be done.
