83 CGT Cruise control issue

If it's the same as most cruise units of that vintage, the cruise  
won't work, because the speed sensor is integrated into the  
speedometer, or sometimes sort of tacked on the side or back of the  
speedo. So, no, there's no way to make the cruise work without that  
signal. As to whether a quantum or other cable might work, I don't  
really know. If there's any u-pull yards around, he could go and  
acquire a selection of them and find out.
